Note From The Editors

Hello! Thank you for reading this first issue of the Coventry Independent Student Voice. The paper has come about because the Source Newspaper has been compromised. 

A motion was passed in 2008 so that all publicity that the Student’s Union publishes must go through the Vice President of Communications; he is the only one who decides what students hear of Union affairs.

This paper will be 100% independent of the Union and attempt to give you truthful accounts of what happens within your university. We will discuss the controversial topics that the Source chooses to forego.

We will attempt to offer you support that the Union has failed to give you. This year the Union has fallen to such low levels that we feel that you as students should know about.

 The sabbatical team has fallen apart and the spirit of the Union has been broken. This paper will attempt to get you as students to help to get the Union back on track. We as students have the power to change the way our Union is run and question what the ‘Union posse’ decides that we want. When was the last time that you as students were asked what you want? Do you think it is fair that our ‘President’ and ‘VP Communications’ decide what is best for you without asking? When was the last time they approached you? More importantly do you even know their names?

 We as students need to take a stand and show the Union that we matter and they should have our interests at heart as opposed to personal ambition. We need to get more involved and stand up for what is right. 

This paper is for you Students, you deserve to know the truth.
